The Kenya Roads Board has appointed Judith K. Otsyula as its new Director General following a competitive recruitment process, marking a historic first for the road subsector.
In a statement issued on February 18, 2026, the Board, chaired by Aisha Jumwa Katana, said Otsyula is a distinguished transport sector professional with over two decades of senior leadership experience in infrastructure development, strategic programme management, and institutional governance.
“She brings a proven track record of delivering transformative infrastructure initiatives and strengthening public sector institutions to achieve sustainable national development,” the Board said.
The Board announced that Otsyula becomes the first woman to serve as Director General within the road subsector, describing the appointment as a reflection of its commitment to inclusivity and progressive leadership.
“The Kenya Roads Board has announced the appointment of Judith K. Otsyula as Director General following a competitive recruitment process,” the statement read.
Her appointment comes at a time when the Kenya Roads Board continues to play a critical role in road financing and oversight, ensuring efficient utilization of funds to support road maintenance and development across the country.
